This old rusty basket is being cleaned up at the Jiangshan Dao yard destined to be a tourist attraction in the Taizhou military theme park near by (here). GW 349 drifted around for 20 years in an unremarkable career – with Wang Fushan, the current deputy commander of the North Sea Fleet, as its skipper being the only bright spot.

Yuan-class submarine is the third generation submarine researched by China own, no matter what noise control or weapons, or the degree of automation, it is much higher than Song-class submarine, it  belongs to the more advanced submarine in the international conventional submarines.  One school of thought that the "meta" level should be the Russian "Kilo-class," the brother, evolved from the Kilo-class, but also school point of view, Yuan-class submarines should belong to the Russian "Amur" class improved.
